FRIDAY: So, Trisha left. We thought she wasn't going to be leaving until Saturday, so we were robbed of our "Farewell Day" which was going to include some alone time and an awesome dinner! I fought back my tears as I walked away and left her standing next to the Greyhound bus. I didn't cry nearly as much as I did last time she left for the school. I come home and drank some off brand Captain Morgan we had, Admiral Nelson with some very flat coke. I got a nice little buzz. Unfortunately, we only had one phone, which she took with her, so we didn't get to talk much as she made her day and half journey through the seedy bus stations. We Skyped when we could, but amazingly enough, most of the bus stations don't have wi-fi.
SATURDAY: I got so fed up with not being able to talk to her properly, I ended up going to the pawn shop to scrape together enough money to buy a new phone, since we had already spend money on the phone card. Of course, since we live out in the country, the reception is awful and I have to go outside to use it normally. Finished off the Admiral Nelson
SUNDAY: Laundry day, study for final day. Pretty relaxed.
MONDAY: This was the fun day. She called me and I rushed outside so I could answer it and not drop the call. I had failed to realize that in doing so, I was locking myself out of our house. I start crying. I felt so bad because I know Trisha wanted to do something, but she's hundred of miles away and she was on her lunch break. I could hear Teddy whinning inside. "Damnit, Teddy, grow some opposoable thumbs" I yelled. Luckily, we live in a mobile home with crappy doors. Trisha reminded me that the top of door somtimes bows out. So first I tried that, but I couldn't wedge my arm down there. Finally, it clicked that if the top bowed out, the bottom should too. So, I wedge my arm under, and bam! I was back in the house. So, off the run the errands. I got to the college bookstore to resell my books, and of course I forgot my ID. Ah, back home then back out again. Stuck at a stoplight, a random motorist honks his horn at me. What the hell is it now, I'm thinking. "You might want to pull over. Your tire is really flat."
Of course it is because it was riding funny earlier, but it didn't occur to me that that could be the reason. After I inflated the tire, I felt a sense of pride. I never did that before. Trisha always did it for me. I'll learn how to get by, on little victories. Indeed, Matt Nathanson.
TUESDAY: My final exam for Nursing 101. I got a B on the final and a B in the class! Success. My heart sank a little bit when I realized Trisha wasn't here to congratulate me. We always high-five when my test scores get posted. I was able to talk to my Aunt Darsci and vent a lot.
WEDNESDAY: I woke up later than planned and was in the middle of my work-out when Trisha called on her first break. I was a little short with her because, well, I'm standing here out of breath, outside in the already 80 degree weather. I thought I was gonna pass out. Our first little tift since she's been gone, but we made up shortly after, of course. That's not bad though. Considering we are flat broke, actually we have less thn 0 dollars, she's a billion miles away and I'm all on my own and today was our first fight.
Today, I realized that I didn't need to buy a brand new house phone, so I asked to borrow one from my in-laws and called our company. Ah, now all I need to do is get our bank account positive and come up with $75 deposit! Alright! Just got a call from Trisha. It was one of the best conversations we've had since she was gone. She was taking a break from studying for her permit test and was outside joking around with the guys. I actually felt like I was there with her and involved in the conversation. It put me in a very good mood.
Well, tomorrow she goes to the BMV - the BUERAU of Motor Vehicles, gosh Indiana, pretentious much? She's going to test for her CDL permit.
I will not be able to contain my joy when she finishes this training and gets to come home for a little while!
